Based at 4 Jackson Street, Petone

Here are some of the things we do to help the environment:

  • Since our beginnings in 1973 we’ve believed sustainability begins with quality products that last, so that’s what we make.
  • Retail bags made from 90% post-consumer waste
  • Refuse a bag initiative – whenever a customer says no to a retail bag, Macpac donates $0.20c to our Macpac Fund for Good that supports organisations doing environmental projects, adventure based social development and ethical manufacturing. So far our customers have refused over 67,000 bags!
  • Team Tree planting twice each year on the Christchurch Port Hills
  • Purchased native plants to offset the carbon from our energy usage and travel
  • We have a Repairs service to keep our customer’s Macpac gear in use for longer.  Approx. 4,000 customer repairs done annually in NZ alone
  • We sell reusable KeepCups, drink bottles, silicone containers to reduce the amount of single use items our customers use
  • We sell GuppyFriend micro fibre collecting wash bags to prevent micro-fibres getting into the waterways
  • A number of our products are made with recycled content – recycled plastic bottles
  • All down used is responsibly sourced
  • Constantly reducing the amount of polybags used on our products. 200,000 removed in the last year
  • Ethically sourced non-mulesed merino used
  • Organic Cotton used
  • Make products with Polygiene an anti-odour technology, meaning clothes last longer and need less washing
  • Advise customers on how to care for their Macpac gear and clothing to keep them going for longer
  • Members of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition which helps improves sustainable production in the textile industry through a number of tools
