Bring your friends and family to this special event and celebrate peace with Petone Settlers Museum. You are warmly invited to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the 1919 Petone Peace Celebrations on Jackson Street, Petone – it will be held on the corner of Jackson and Richmond Streets.
On the weekend of 19-21 July 1919, Petone citizens celebrated peace. Our community took to the streets to sing, dance, create and march together through the Petone Peace Arch. In defiance of the horrific war, we celebrated peace and harmony in our village perched next to a beautiful harbour. Today, 100 years later, that message of peace resonates more strongly than ever. We are commemorating this celebration of peace with a reimagining of the arch – this time with a modern twist. We’d love you to join us and share your dreams for peace in 2019.
Hey kids, colour in and/or design + colour in your own peace arch! Please put your name/age/address/phone number on them and either pop them into the JSP office (Historic Police Station, 274b Jackson St, Petone) or scan and email to: firstname.lastname@example.org , to win one of three prizes from Westpac Bank Petone. Entries in by 1pm, Monday 22 July 2019.
