On Saturday, 3 October, the Jackson Street Programme (JSP) honoured two more Petone sportspeople who have represented NZ in their chosen sport, by unveiling plaques along the WALK OF CHAMPIONS. They were unveiled outside 221 & 223 Jackson Street (The Funky Fryer & Every Good Cafe) for incredible footballers from the Petone FC – Official:

⚽️ 1979 – 1996: Maureen Jacobson
⚽️ 1987 – 2008: Wendi Henderson

Congratulations to our wonderful recipients and Petone FC, plus special thanks to all who attended and to Pelorus Trust for sponsoring the plaques.

The “Walk of Champions” is in its 28th year and we have many more plaques to lay. Sport is still going strong in Petone and we live up to our title of the “Cradle of Champions” – a phrase coined by Sir Thomas Wilford 120 years ago.

Don’t forget to look down when you’re on Jackson Street and read about our incredible sporting history.
